Mac Oven

Als Besitzer eines Macbook Pro gleicher Bauart kann ich mir gut vorstellen, dass man sich mit Hilfe dieser praktischen Hardware-Erweiterung prima sein Essen aufwärmen kann. Einfach Flash-Video mit 720p starten und ca. 5 Minuten warten. Der Mac Oven stammt von 01MATHERY ("Two young designers-One idea a day"), über die vor einer Weile schon mal gebloggt habe.

Immer wenn es auf Halloween zugeht, drehen in meinem Feedreader die Todesstern-Kürbisse in Flottenstärke ihre Runden. Nach wochenlangem Dauerfeuer beuge ich mich heute dem imperialen Kürbisterror und poste obenstehendes Ensemble.

Planzen aus Plants vs Zombies im Einweckglas

Vermutlich wohne ich im Haushalt mit der höchsten Plants vs Zombies Pro-Kopf-Spielzeit in Hamburg. Insofern – und weil man ihn nicht gießen muss – wäre der Peashooter (siehe oben) von AnUnclesMonkey die ideale Zimmerpflanze für uns gewesen. Ist aber leider schon ausverkauft. Schade. Kernel Pult und Hypnoshroom finde ich zwar auch gelungen, gefallen mir aber lange nicht so gut.

Niklas Roy hat eine Werkstatt in einem ehemaligen Laden mit Schaufenster zur Straße hin. Um etwas mehr Privatsphäre zu haben, hat er sich mit einer Überwachungskamera, einem Laptop und ein wenig anderem Kram einen "schlauen" Vorhang gebastelt:

"The curtain is smaller than the window, but an additional surveillance camera and an old laptop provide it with intelligence: The computer sees the pedestrians and locates them. With a motor attached, it positions the curtain exactly where the pedestrians are ... But in the end, it doesn’t protect my privacy at all. Heiliger Strohsack! Daniel Heggarty aus St. Louis hat einen Raum in eine Rube-Goldberg-Maschine verwandelt. So ungefähr habe ich mir als Kind die Produktionsstätten von ACME vorgestellt. Und weil der Maschinenraum so wunderschön ist, hier die komplette Videobeschreibung:

This room was constructed with the humor of Rube Goldberg cartoons in mind at the St. Louis City Museum. Developed organically, the room started with one exercycle on the bench and the thought, "What can this become?" From there, visual and comedic mechanics were added day by day to create a space that with the push of a button, the room would erupt with motion and activity. A line shaft and belt system from the Industrial Revolution was used to transmit power and action over the viewers head, encompassing them with movement and the challenge of deciphering what powers what. An umbrella opens and closes with the aid of cables and manikin hands, a cup floats and falls with the power of pneumatic pistons, a 3ft. wheel of feet kicks up opposing balancing beams, a leg and foot continue to 'kick the bucket' and a fireplace bellows that spins the pinwheel. The line shaft continues on the opposing side to spin a turn of the century shoe polisher and a wall of interconnected bicycle wheels. Shovels hang from the ceiling while being punched by boxing gloves and old dry cleaner racks play the xylophones. In an age of digital automation this purely mechanical machine was created by trial and error, with the driving thought "Maybe this will work."
