Internet!

Floppytable 3.5 – Couchtisch in Disketten-Form

Windows 95 Startsound 23-fach verlangsamt

"The thing from the agency said, "We want a piece of music that is inspiring, universal, blah- blah, da-da-da, optimistic, futuristic, sentimental, emotional," this whole list of adjectives, and then at the bottom it said 'and it must be 3.25 seconds long.'" -- Brain Eno, June 2 1996

Old School Computer Remix: Somebody That I Used to Know

YouTube: Old School Computer Remix (via Feingut)

YouTuber BD594 covert mit alter Hardware "Somebody That I Used To Know" von Gotye. Gefällt mir fast so gut wie sein Remix von House of the Rising Sun, wobei letzterer für meinen Geschmack besser zur Retro-Technik gepasst hat.
HP Scanjet 3C as the vocals. It lags a bit due to the fast paced vocals. In order for the stepper motor to play a note it has to be moving and with that large carriage it takes a few milli seconds before it can play a note. It doesn't sound like a lot of time but stretch that over a 4 minute song and voila...out of sync. Programming does help to compensate but it is not perfect. Amiga 600 Bass on left audio output and Guitar on right audio output. Each audio channel was feed into an oscilloscope 2 Harddrives as the drums and cymbal Xylophone as the Xylophone (duh) Both the Harddrive and Xylophone are controlled by one PIC16F84A mircocontroller

Dorle: Ich suche meine Infos lieber in Büchern.
Screenfun: Ist Internet-Surfen etwa out?
Jessica: Als Trend schon, deshalb sieht man in diesen Cafés ja auch fast niemanden mehr.

Shopping with the Nimoy's

Familie Spock beim Einkaufen anno 1968 – to boldly go where no man has gone before. Neato Coolville hat den kompletten Artikel gescannt.
Let's slingshot around the sun and travel back to the 60s for a day of shopping with Leonard Nimoy and family. I discovered this photo spread in the June 1968 issue of TV Star Parade and it's a real treat to see. It's especially fun for all of us Trek fans that missed out on the first and original Trek craze. (I became a fan during the rerun days of the 70s!) Articles like this one gives us a glimpse of a time when Star Trek was new and people were wanting to learn anything and everything about the show. Tons of TV and gossip mags featured as much info on the actors as possible. I like that the photos from this article make it look like Leonard just walked off the Star Trek set to go shopping with his family. Leonard is still sporting his Spock hairdo and is even wearing a similar shirt like his alter ego. His pointy ears are probably stuffed in his pocket and in a few hours he'll return to the studio ready for the next Start Trek scene. (Click on the pages for a closer look!)

You Forgot To Hit Pause

An homage dedicated to the Super Nintendo & my childhood. The idea of the video is as the title suggests. The sprites that are featured in the video are seen in their idle animations or left alone to be pummeled, etc. I tried fitting in as many games as I could that featured sprites in a classic side-scrolling style. Besides being zoomed in, all of the footage is in it's original emulated state/speed without manipulation. Quite a few of the games had multiple characters to choose from. For the most part, I tried keeping it to one selection per game. One thing that I focused on was choosing female characters, there aren't that many female stars in video games... So, some majority fan favorites were left out ...

Space Age Hair Fashions. A fun but bizarre film showing a woman going in to a hairdressers and getting some space age hairstyle done. Was this all the rage in the 1960s?

Apple Propaganda von 1997: The MacAdvocate CD-ROM

The only problem with Microsoft is they just have no taste."
Apple has long been fortunate to have an excited fan base promoting its products and helping lure first-time buyers. But did you know that Apple used to distribute free collateral to help its biggest fans spread the message. That’s what this is: The 1997 MacAdvocate CD-ROM, full of “why Mac?” presentations, free software and games, Apple TV commercials, and more. It came out shortly after Apple acquired NeXT, but before Steve Jobs had really started remaking the company around products like the iMac or iPad ... More recently, poking around my family’s home in Chicago, I found the old-Mac-stuff stash. I booted up my sister’s blue iMac, popped in the CD, and took a bunch of screenshots. Some of this stuff is pretty amazing.

The Evolution of 8-Bit Art

YouTube: The Evolution of 8-Bit Art (via Superlevel

Die PBS Arts in ihrer Webserie "OFF BOOK" diesmal über 8-Bit-Ästhetik.
Beginning with early Atari and Nintendo video games, the 8-bit aesthetic has been a part of our culture for over 30 years. As it moved through the generations, 8-bit earned its independence from its video game roots. The idea of 8-bit now stands for a refreshing level of simplicity and minimalism, is capable of sonic and visual beauty, and points to the layer of technology that suffuses our modern lives. No longer just nostalgia art, contemporary 8-bit artists and chiptunes musicians have elevated the form to new levels of creativity and cultural reflection.

Steampunkdisko quasi. Fotos und Infos gibts hier.
Note the twin gramophones, driven from a common electric motor between them. An air hose goes to each valvebox from the control valve just under the air pressure gauge; I suspect that this control valve allowed the operator to crossfade between the two gramophones. DJ in the house!Below this, there is a light-coloured metal manifold which connects the the gramophone output pipes to the two horns. Quite how the record arms are pivoted so they can follow the track on the disc is a bit unclear, but there appears to be some sort of ball joint where they enter the manifold ...

Your Secret Telephone Directory On Your Wrist
