Ich fand das Alien-Prequel Prometheus insgesamt mittel bis enttäuschend, aber die Special Effect immerhin gelungen. Wie die erzeugt wurden zeigt The Moving Picture Company, bei It's Art gibts weitere zwei Videos (ebenfalls von MPC). Weil's thematisch passt nach dem Klick noch ein "ehrlicher" Prometheus-Trailer von den Screen Junkies, die den Film inhaltlich auseinandernehmen.

HP Scanjet 3C as the vocals. It lags a bit due to the fast paced vocals. In order for the stepper motor to play a note it has to be moving and with that large carriage it takes a few milli seconds before it can play a note. It doesn't sound like a lot of time but stretch that over a 4 minute song and voila...out of sync. Programming does help to compensate but it is not perfect. Amiga 600 Bass on left audio output and Guitar on right audio output. Each audio channel was feed into an oscilloscope 2 Harddrives as the drums and cymbal Xylophone as the Xylophone (duh) Both the Harddrive and Xylophone are controlled by one PIC16F84A mircocontroller

Entdeckt Christopher Moloney beim Rumlatschen in New York den Drehort eines bekannten Films, hält er einen Ausdruck der entsprechenden Szene perspektivisch möglichst passend vor seine Knipse und postet das Foto in seinem Tumblr FILMography. Ich hab mir mal Ghostbusters, Warriors (Film-Tipp!) und Dark Knight Rises rausgepickt.

Let's slingshot around the sun and travel back to the 60s for a day of shopping with Leonard Nimoy and family. I discovered this photo spread in the June 1968 issue of TV Star Parade and it's a real treat to see. It's especially fun for all of us Trek fans that missed out on the first and original Trek craze. (I became a fan during the rerun days of the 70s!) Articles like this one gives us a glimpse of a time when Star Trek was new and people were wanting to learn anything and everything about the show. Tons of TV and gossip mags featured as much info on the actors as possible. I like that the photos from this article make it look like Leonard just walked off the Star Trek set to go shopping with his family. Leonard is still sporting his Spock hairdo and is even wearing a similar shirt like his alter ego. His pointy ears are probably stuffed in his pocket and in a few hours he'll return to the studio ready for the next Start Trek scene. (Click on the pages for a closer look!)(via F5 auf FB)

Although this was a first for the major Los Angeles airport hub, it was a last for the space shuttle Endeavour, as it completed its tour of California skies and landed, albeit atop a 747, for the last time ... Pictured above, the piggybacking shuttle was snapped on approach last week to LAX as it crossed above and beyond a major Los Angeles street. Now retired, the space shuttles are all museum pieces, with the above shuttle scheduled to be towed along the streets of LA to the California Science Center.

Coming within 30 metres of the lava lake down a watercourse, it was possible to stand the heat for only 6 seconds. With Fire Brigade breathing apparatus and heat proof proximity suit it was possible to stand on the very edge and view the incredible show for over 40 minutes.

Als Kommentar zum sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Niedergang der USA hat Nicolas Silberfaden für seine Reihe "Impersonators" traurig dreinschauende Superhelden- und Promi-Darsteller fotografiert. Die Idee ist weder neu noch subtil, trotzdem sind die Fotos durchaus sehenswert.
Due to the current economic, social and cultural crisis in The United States of America today, I have decided to do a photographic project consisting of a series of studio portraits of superhero and celebrity impersonators that live and work in the city of Los Angeles. Most of them unemployed Americans, they decided to suit up with their costumes and hit the streets, animate parties and events in efforts to make ends meet. Making them pose in their costumes against a colorful backdrop, I ask them to manifest feelings of genuine sadness – honest emotions that are a consequence of our current times. The result is a somber, striking visual image that contradicts the iconic nature of strength and moral righteousness typical in American superhero and celebrity imagery. But in this case there is no projector and this is just manually moving the windows and shutters on 11 floors and 10 rows that magic operates simulating the pixels of a giant rudimentary screen (10x11 pixels )."
