Ich kann mir nicht so richtig vorstellen wie, aber zwei dänische Wissenschaftler haben mit einem kombinierten Verfahren aus Computertomographie und Magnetresonanztomographie eine Python 2, 16, 24, 32, 48, 72 und 132 Stunden nach dem Verzehr einer Ratte durchleuchtet. Tilt-Shift Van Gogh

Zuletzt haben so viele Tilt Shift Fotos und Videos die Runde gemacht, dass ich mich am Modellandschaft-Look sattgesehen habe. Doch dann laufen mir die 16 Tilt-Shift Van Goghs von Serena Malyon über den Weg.

Hubot: Mulitmedia Roboter aus den 1980ern

Tolles Foto aus meinem Familienalbum, das ich quellenlos auf einem Tumblr-Blog gefunden habe  mit einem Hubot (Baujahr 1983) ...

Fotos einer stillgelegten Hochbahntrasse in Manhattan

Auf Flickr gibts ein grandioses  Set von einer verwilderten Hochbahntrasse in Manhattan.

Zur Erklärung: Von der High Line, ehemals 21 km lang, sind noch etwas mehr als zwei Kilometer übrig, deren Abriss von den Friends of the High Line, einer Anwohner-Initiative, in letzter Sekunde verhindert wurde.  Seit 2006 wird die Reststrecke in einen Park umgebaut, der dieses Jahr fertiggestellt werden soll.

Keine Ahnung wie viele Stunden meines Lebens ich Comic lesend vor meinem Amiga verbracht habe, monotones Floppy-Klackern als Hintergrundgeräusch und Disketten gewechselt habe, wenn X-Copy danach verlangt hat. Dem populären Kopierprogramm von damals hat jetzt jemand mit dem X-Copy Shrine ein wohlverdientes Denkmal gesetzt und sämtliche Versionen zum legalen Download online gestellt:

"A long time ago, when computers still used floppy disks, there was a need to duplicate the contents of these floppies. X-Copy was one of the most well known disk copying programs for the Commodore Amiga ... The disk images you can find here have been taken from the actual master disks, to preserve the legacy as authentically as possible ... Anstecklampe für Auspuff visualiserit CO2-Ausstoß von Autos

Die leuchtenden Auspuffwolken von Karolina Sobecka werden am Auto und verfärben sich entsprechend der CO2-Menge im Abgas in Echtzeit von grün nach dunkelrot. Zusätzlich gibts noch eine iPhone-App, die für jede Fahrt dokumentiert, welche Menge Kohlenstoffdioxid, Kohlenstoffmonoxid, Stickoxide und Kohlenwasserstoffe in die Luft geblasen wurden.

Inspiriert von den Büchern "The Alphabet" und "Elements of Lettering" von Frederic W. Goudy hat Andreas Scheiger in seinem Grafischen Labor ein paar Buchstaben seziert. Das Ergebnis der Obduktion kann man sich auf Behance ansehen, ein Making of gibts in seinem Blog.

Sehr schöner Lightpainting-Trip von Kim Pimmel. Und so funktionierts:

"I've been interested in taking my Light Study photo series and evolving them into motion pieces. I shot a lot of footage for a VJ gig for FITC San Francisco. So I edited together those stop motion sequences, mashed up some audio from the Tron Legacy trailers, and out came Light Drive. The video is stop motion, so every frame is an individually shot photograph. Each photograph is a long exposure photo, with exposures reaching up to 20 seconds in some cases. To control the lights, I used an Arduino controlled via bluetooth to drive a stepper motor. The stepper motor controls the movements of the lights remotely from Processing."

Alle 13.000 Satelliten die um die Erde fliegen in Google Earth

Im Google Earth Blog kann man sich in Echtzeit anschauen, wo sich gerade die 13.000 (!) Satelliten befinden, die um die Erde schwirren. Ganz so eng wirds da oben wohl nicht zugehen, die Umlaufbahnen scheinen nicht ganz maßstabsgetreu zu sein. Trotzdem würde ich Aliens vor einem Erdurlaub zur Vollkaskoversicherung fürs Raumschiff raten, außer den Satelliten kreist da oben noch eine ziemliche Menge Weltraumschrot.

Babelgum hat eine Mini-Doku über die Guerilla-Künstlerin Princess Hijab, die seit 2006 durch die Pariser Metro zieht und Werbeplakate mit einem Schleier übermalt (falls jemand noch nichts von ihr gehört haben sollte, hier ein okayer Artikel bei SPON). Erwartungsgemäß erfährt man nichts über ihre Identität und die paar dürren Statements sind dekoratives Beiwerk. Dafür darf man ihr aber über die Schulter schauen, wie sie ein paar Plakate hijabisiert und durch die Metro läuft. Und das ist ja auch was wert.
