I was recently brought on by Armin Harris for a job with Fortune Magazine. The story was about console gaming’s demise. We came up with a concept to incorporate still and video footage of exploding consoles and controllers, particularly Xbox 360′s, for the story. The shoot took place at a pyrotechnics studio in Brooklyn called J and M Special Effects ... Although we used laser and sound triggers for precision, roughly 10 Xbox 360′s and 8 controllers were blown up in the process of getting the right image ..." Explosions for Fortune

Apropos Gen­tri­fi­ca­ti­on in Ham­burg: Ich habe mich beim Klicken durch die Bildergalerie auf  yuppiesgegengentrification.​de ziemlich amüsiert. Mal sehen, vielleicht lade ich die Tage dort auch noch was hoch. Wegen Gleichstellung der Geschlechter noch zwei Damen nach dem Klick.

Pioneer One: BitTorrent exklusive TV-SciFi-Serie wird fortgesetzt

Vor ein paar Monaten hatte ich schon mal über Pioneer One gebloggt: Eine TV-SciFi-Drama-Serie der Filmemacher Josh Bernhard und Bracey Smith, die spendenfinanziert produziert und ausschließlich per P2P verbreitet wird. Nachdem der Pilot gut angekommen ist und weitere 30.000 Dollar an Spenden eingegangen sind, haben die Macher nachgelegt und drei weitere Folgen produziert. Eine ist bereits veröffentlicht, die beiden anderen folgen in den kommenden Wochen.

Ich habe mir gestern nochmal den Piloten zusammen mit der neuen Episode angesehen und war recht angetan. Natürlich sieht man der Serie das Mini-Budget an (was aber nicht groß stört) und ich bin mir auch nicht sicher, ob die Story auf Dauer trägt – aber ich finde das Projekt sehr symphatisch, freue mich auf weitere Folgen und werden deshalb gleich eine kleine Spende auf den Weg bringen.

Auf YouTube gibt es eine interessante Doku von 1989 über die Kowloon Walled City, einem legendären, wild bebauten Stadteil von Hongkong, der vor seinem Abriss 1993 die höchste Bevölkerungsdichte der Welt hatte und lange Zeit als Art rechtsfreier Raum unter Kontrolle des organisierten Verbrechens galt. Bisher gibt es zwei Comcis, wovon ich den ersten toll und den zweiten mittel finde. In der Hoffnung, dass die Serie noch eine Weile weiterläuft habe ich mir gleich mal den Feed abonniert.

Aram Bartholl, neulich erst mit seinen eingemauerten USB-Sticks in sämtlichen Blogs, hat zusammen mit Ariel Schlesinger ein neues Projekt realisiert. Das Ganze nennt sich Looptaggr und ist eine clevere "drive-by stenciling technology" Marke Eigenbau: man braucht lediglich einen Drahtkleiderbügel, Pappe, Klebeband und natürlich eine Sprühdose. Toll!

Jérémie Decalf, Wissenschaftler am Instituto de Medicina Molecular in Lisabon mit einem Faible für Illustration and Fotografie, hat ein sehr schönes Foto-Set mit Bildern, die er die letzten eineinhalb Jahre von einem Anatomiesaal geschossen hat.

"The institute is located inside the hospital Santa Maria which has a MD training program. In the context of my daily work, I have the occasion to go through the corridor where the anatomy classes of 1st year students are taking place. I have been fascinated by the representation and models they use for these classes. They are quite detailed and interesting, but as the same time they have some kind of old-fashion charm and a real aesthetic that I wanted to capture. So for the last 18 months, while going where I keep my laboratory mice (which happens to be in the same corridor), I took my camera and made some shots on the way. Not moving anything, letting chance placing the organs, the chairs and tables."

 Ich glaube ich werde mit meiner Umwelt nur noch per Tron-Bit-Papercraft kommunizieren:

Der französische Künstler Paul Destieu hat (schon) vor einiger Zeit einen wohlbekannten Windows-Bug mit 500 Offsetdrucken nachgebaut und an eine Wand gepappt:

My Favourite Landscape ... is a reappropriation of the well known Windows XP desktop : Green Hill. Taking advantage of the weakness of the computer, it sets the common bug out of its context, on a wall, expending it to a much bigger scale.
